IN the very early hours of this morning, HMS Defender arrived at Greenwich.
The Royal Navy’s state-of-the-art destroyer is making its first visit to the capital and will be moored at Greenwich until next Tuesday.
Her visit, and that of HMS Middleton which will be coming up the river to HMS President at Wapping on Friday, is timed to coincide with the centenary of the Battle of Gallipoli.
Defender is one of six Daring class ships which are reckoned to have cost over £1billion each including research and development costs.
There are public tours taking place this weekend but by ticket only and unfortunately all the tickets are now gone.

Good stuff. I put a link to this on another site and a bloke from Berkshire is coming to Greenwich especially to see it!

Thank you for taking the photos of us on Wednesday! We regularly cycle from Croydon up to Greenwich and we were surprised to see HMS Defender this week.
