A man died in hospital last night after a fatal shooting in Greenwich.
The victim, named as Genson Courtney, aged 23, was found by police in a black Volkswagen Golf in Banning Street at around 11pm last night.
The victim had gunshot wounds to his head and shoulder and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3.43am.
The investigation is being led by Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) Mark Gower of Trident.
DCI Gower, said: “At this early stage it is believed a male suspect may have ran from the scene in the direction of Christchurch Way, SE10 shortly after the shooting.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact the police.
“I would like to reassure anyone concerned about contacting the police that Trident has great expertise in protecting witnesses and there are a huge variety of measures that can be put in place to protect you.”

i am so glad i got out of london when i did.i used to feel quite safe walking the streets with my avon money, in greenwich. but all i here now is shootings stabbings what has the world come to when there is so much greed and violence. and they want to host the olympics in GREENWICH.
I was worried that when Greenwich Council started to build all of these new social housing units, that we would have a problem like this. I didn’t think that we would start to see drug crime within six months of the build date

do your research. affordable housing very probably had little to do with this shooting considering the affluent background of the victim.
